CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a value system that a person or a company voluntarily chooses and develops in order to help themselves, other people and the environment, and to improve their own and others’ competences and knowledge.

The concept of social responsibility involves the voluntary integration of social and environmental concerns into the company’s daily processes and interactions. It is a voluntary instrument, the proper implementation of which promotes trust and confidence among all stakeholders.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT POLICY

Skrivanek Baltic is a socially responsible language service provider in Latvia and implements community support and charity projects. The growth of Skrivanek Baltic provides an opportunity to dedicate resources (both our services, volunteer work and financial resources) to targeted support of various community activities that are in line with our company values: responsibility, understanding, challenge.

Our community support priorities are based on our way of doing business and have been identified with the participation of Skrivanek Baltic employees. The priorities are education, children and youth welfare, intercultural relations. The defined core support priorities do not exclude our involvement in other types of projects.

We support:

  • initiatives that focus on education and social development, promote the well-being of children and young people, and stimulate intercultural contacts and cross-border cooperation;

  • projects that require our professional expertise and language services;

  • the assessment of submitted support activities identifies the resources needed and gives priority to those that can deliver measurable results, with the possibility of building long-term cooperation.

We do not support:

  • activities that may be intolerant and contrary to generally accepted moral values;

  • initiatives that support religious/political events or organisations;

  • projects that promote gambling, alcohol and tobacco use.

Evaluation of support projects:

  • send a free description of the support project to: [email protected]. Please indicate the exact form and amount of support required and include your contact details;

  • preference will be given to projects that are clearly linked in nature to the values of Skrivanek Baltic and in line with our support priorities;

  • it is essential that the proposed initiative is capable of delivering measurable results with the potential to develop long-term cooperation;

  • submitted ideas will be reviewed, and a Skrivanek Baltic staff member will respond electronically within 20 days.

BE SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE

HOW CAN WE EACH BE SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE?

1. By commuting to work by public transport (e.g. 40 to 50 people per trolleybus, tram or bus) or even better – by bicycle!

2. By saving electricity.

3. By saving paper , i.e. by printing on both sides and not printing what you can read on your computer.

4. By sorting waste and not polluting the environment.

5. By donating online, for example: www.ziedot.lv – it really is an easy way to help someone in a time of need. You can also take part in other charity projects or create your own!

6. By using less hot water and saving cold water.

7. By planting a tree or even a whole forest!

8. By being respectful to others.

9. By choosing paper or cloth bags in shops.

10. When seeing a person or animal in distress, don’t reassure yourself with the thought – you can’t help everyone! We can all make a difference and make a difference for good!

11. By remembering that we did not inherit the earth, but borrowed it from our children.

And how do you do it?

FRAUD OFF MOVEMENT

Skrivanek Baltic is for a fair business environment, which is why we have joined the anti-fraud movement #FRAUDOFF!, which brings together organisations that care about fairness and are ready to join hands to fight for it and involve the whole Latvian society in this fight. This initiative is implemented by law enforcement authorities in Latvia to jointly fight fraud and promote public education. The initiative is politically neutral.

The aim of the movement is to encourage the public to investigate and think before they fall prey to fraud, to investigate before they become a victim, to become more critical and to assess the risks – both those that may arise individually and those that exist nationally if fraud and the shadow economy are encouraged and tolerated.

FAMILY FRIENDLY WORKPLACE

Skrivanek Baltic has been awarded the Family Friendly Workplace 2021 status in the Small and Medium Enterprises category. The status was awarded as part of the Family Friendly Workplace initiative implemented by the Society Integration Foundation. The aim of the initiative is to promote the development of an empathetic, humane and understanding workplace culture in Latvia, while offering tools to assess the existing workplace environment and financial assistance in implementing various support measures for employees.

SUPPORT FOR THE CHARITY MARATHON GIVE FIVE! (DOD PIECI!) 2022

In solidarity with the Ukrainian people who have been forced to flee the war started by Russia, the charity marathon “Give Five!” 2022 invited the Latvian public to support Ukrainian children in Latvia with their donations.

With a minimum donation of 5 euros, everyone had the opportunity to choose one song to play on Latvijas Radio 5 – Pieci.lv and support the children from Ukraine to experience another day in Latvia without sirens and explosions.

The Skrivanek Baltic team is pleased to be able to help with the project and support by providing translations in English, Ukrainian and Russian.

The charity marathon took place from 16 to 22 December 2022. It is organised by Latvijas Radio in cooperation with Latvijas Televīzija and news portal LSM.lv.

SUBSCRIBE TO DONATE TO THE UKRAINIAN ARMY ON STOPIFY

Skrivanek Baltic strives to support the people of Ukraine in many different ways. If we can lend a helping hand to the fight for freedom in Ukraine with the help of our language specialists, we do!

We are pleased and honoured that Māris Upenieks, the creator and initiator of Stopify, approached us directly with a request to help with the translation of the platform into English and Ukrainian so that the initiative could reach as wide a section of the international community as possible.

Stopify is a donation streaming platform that works on a monthly subscription basis – users can choose one of three subscription plans that can be changed or cancelled at any time. This is the option to subscribe to support the Ukrainian army.
